Postpartum Depression is Multigenerational

Support for the Mother can Help Protect the Child

Postpartum depression tends to happen in women who lack support. In other words, the problem is multigenerational where the mother’s depression is not only a response to the birth of a child but also a recalling of negative memories from her own childhood, triggered by the birth of her child.

Relieving Isolation and Stress Would Lead to Better Outcomes

Unfortunately we are seeing a rise in childhood developmental problems which result directly from stressed parenting (not bad parenting). It is caused more by the isolation of the parents, lack of support and rising economic pressures.
