New Mothers Need Support

These resources are now owned and operated by Child Health BC who is making them freely available to parents, caregivers, families and anyone supporting healthy child development in the early years.

New Mothers May Feel Guilty and Doubt Their Worth

Some new mothers may feel reluctant to ask for assistance because of feelings of guilt and worthlessness. They may think their parenting skills will come under scrutiny or may choose not to ask for help out of politeness. Others may not recognize they need help.

Seek out Support Systems

It is the responsibility of friends, family members and other members of society to make sure that a new mother feels safe and supported, and is surrounded by people whom she can trust.
