Living with Serious Depression Prevents you from Parenting Effectively

Postpartum Depression (PPD) is not the baby blues. PPD is a serious depression in which parts of the brain shut down, the parts that enable a mother to see and interpret facial expressions and non-verbal communication. This can prevent a mother from recognizing her baby’s signals or cues.

Moms who are Struggling Need Support and Medical Intervention

Feelings of shame and unworthiness can prevent a new mother from parenting effectively. Mothers see themselves as “incompetent” and this contributes to the spiral of depression. Families need to know that help is available.
