Over the upcoming months we will feature some of our board members so you can see for yourself the amazing expertise that shapes our work. First up is Dr. Andrew Macnab, our lead Paediatrician who has been involved with KidCareCanada since its inception – and before. Andrew is a recognized champion of education for girls in developing countries, and founder of the African Hearts School in Uganda.

Andrew is an advocate for the use of novel strategies so that knowledge is more accessible and more relevant to new parents and ‘at risk’ youth.

He is recognized for his work in Health Promotion where he is an authority on the application of the World Health Organization (WHO) Health Promoting School (HPS) model, with established programs running successfully in schools in Africa.

As a Pediatrician his focus has been child health. As such, Andrew is a project director for Rose Charities Canada with brightersmilesafrica.ca, which delivers health care, education and life skills training to disadvantaged youth in Africa.

However, Andrew is also a scientist and a Urologist, well-known for his research. He has a special interest in the use of innovative technologies to promote health and education, including the use of light to study the body non-invasively. He is a ‘Star in Global Health’ of Grand Challenges Canada, working on collaborative preventive health projects in schools and rural health clinics in Uganda.
