KidCareCanada recently conducted a small focus group, with a talented group of professionals committed to early childhood development and education. They represented the Early Years tables, Early Childhood Education, Literacy, Health Care, Government, Education and Organizations that support families.
Participants are listed alphabetically below:
- Ms. Sarah Amyot
- Ms. Miranda Andrews
- Ms. Elizabeth (Liz) Cox
- Ms. Marlene Dergousoff
- Dr. Enid Elliot
- Ms. Michelle Gilmore
- Dr. Stefanie Green
- Ms. Janis Johnson
- Ms. Belinda Macey
- Ms. Tammy Timms
Our deepest thanks go to all of the above participants, along with Ms. Corine Sagmeister, who reviewed resources, helped plan the session and arranged for us to meet in the hospitable Victoria Native Friendship Centre. Ms. Jeanine Cooper, Coast Salish Member, warmly welcomed us and officially opened the session that was highly interactive and productive. We also thank Munro Books and Yasser Youssef of FIG Mediterranean Deli for so generously subsidizing our costs.
The purpose of this meeting was to learn from experts in the field as we develop our new Learning Guides, a project funded by the Victoria Foundation. The outstanding feedback we received before, during and after the session will shape the final product.
Once completed, these Learning Guides will be freely available anyone working to support families using KidCareCanada audio visual resources. They will be relevant for Early Childhood Educators, Health Professionals, Librarians, Service Providers and others, including non-professionals and parents wanting to organize informal viewing with a friend or family member.
