Sensory experience exercise

Dr Lionel Traverse and Chef Eric

“I was expecting the regular old humdrum fundraiser (dinner, dance, then the silent auction where you bid on things you don’t want or need…), so the format you organized was a really pleasant and fun surprise!”  (feedback from a guest who attended our December 7, 2012 fundraising event).

Our thanks go to four generous and talented individuals who donated their time so that guests could enjoy a “really pleasant and fun surprise”.

Dr. Christine Scaman and Dr. David McArthur

Chef Eric Arrouze

Our thanks go to Dean Murray Isman, UBC, Dr. Christine Scaman, Dr. David McArthur and Chef Eric Arrouze.

Invitation

Guests mingled, engaged in sensory wine experiences led by Dr. David McArthur, aided by five of his students, learned “Fun facts about cheese”, tips about food safety, current thinking on genetically modified foods and organic foods from Dr. Chris Scaman  and then cooked along with Chef Eric, making a delicious cheese appetizer.

We are grateful to the organizations and individuals who donated gifts, time and money.  Some individuals and organizations have requested anonymity.  We hope they know that their generosity played a huge role in reducing our costs and added to the festivity of the event.  We also thank Staples in Langford for their in-kind donation of expertise and reduced costs and Penna & Co in Broadmead for kitchen items for our table settings.

With the exception of two board members who were out of the country, all KidCareCanada board members attended.  Board members purchased their own tickets – and those of members of our creative team who were able to attend.  They also worked hard behind-the-scenes to contribute to the success of this event.
