Dr. Tom Boyce, the internationally recognized Professor of Pediatrics, Epidemiology and Research, was drawn to research by his work as a developmental pediatrician. Early on he recognized the link between stress and children’s health.
Dr. Boyce became the BC Leadership Chair in Child Development at the Sunny Hill Health Centre and served as a member of Harvard University’s National Scientific Council on the Developing Child.
Dr. Boyce’s research, looking at the interactions between neurobiological and psychosocial processes, has demonstrated that psychological stress and neurobiological “reactivity to aversive social contexts” lead to physical and mental health disorders in populations of children.
Interviewing Dr. Boyce reveals a warm and dedicated man who generously shares his knowledge to improve the health of families and children.
