How Environment Affects our Genes and What is a Phenotype

How Environment Affects our Genes and What is a Phenotype

How are a child's behavior and health later in life determined by the child's early social environment?  In this video Dr. Szyf explains what a phenotype is and how a child’s experiences during the first 2 ½ years of life can affect the child throughout life.  The information he provides helps us better understand aggressive and other behaviours in older children and adults.  It helps parents recognize the importance of the environment they provide for their baby and young child early in life.
